Sequel to the novel by Aleksand Sanfirov "Vovka Center." Arriving in Kuibyshev on completely different matters, Colonel-General Apollonov, Deputy Minister of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs and at the same time chairman of the Dynamo sports community, gets to the match between Dynamo Kuibyshev and Dzerzhinets from Chelyabinsk. There he catches the eye of two young Dynamo hockey players: goalkeeper Vladimir Tretyakov and striker Vladimir Fomin, whose game differs sharply from the inept game of two provincial teams from Group B of the second USSR championship in Canadian hockey. Impressed by their game, the general decides to pick up these two players to strengthen the game of last year's USSR champion Dynamo Moscow, which still occupies the third line of the standings.
