The novel "Lights Ahead" covers the period 1905-1917. In the center of the story are gymnasium students, realists, working youth of a large provincial city. V. Astrov shows the growth of the revolutionary consciousness of a young man of those years. The fate of Kostya Peresvetov, the protagonist of the novel, and his comrades is closely connected with the struggle against the existing order.
