Along with the fact that it had much in common with the life of sailors of other fleets of the 18th-19th centuries, the life of the Russian fleet was much different in the organization of service and everyday life. The era of the sailing fleet in Russia began with the decree of the Boyar Duma on the creation of a regular fleet in 1696 and ended shortly after the end of the Crimean War in the 60s of the XIX century. About these one hundred and sixty years of the existence of the domestic fleet, the story will go in the book of the fleet historian V.V. Shigin.
