The book is a collection of articles on the history of Russian culture. Some essays are devoted to Russian literature, others to Russian history, but all of them are somehow at the intersection of history and philology. Almost all of the articles in the collection were pre-published in foreign editions; they were not published in Russia. Some articles are published in a substantially revised form.
