Five-volume "History of Napoleon I" by the French historian of the mid-19th century Pierre Lanfret (1828-1877), published in St. Petersburg in 1870-1877. covers the period from the birth of Napoleon Bonaparte to the complication of Russian-French relations in 1811 and the preparation of a military campaign in Russia. It contains a detailed account of the events of the Napoleonic Wars, accompanied by a critical assessment of the activities of Napoleon I. This work by P. Lanfre is unfinished in connection with the death of the author.
