Late nineteenth century in San Francisco's Chinatown, and ghost hunters following Maoshan traditions from Taoism keep spiritual powers in check. Li-ling, the daughter of a famous exorcist, is a young widow with the burden of yin eyes - a unique ability to see the spiritual world. Her visions and the death of her husband disgraced Li-ling and her father, and their family cannot afford the shame.
