Original scientific results obtained by employees of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Baltic State Technical University in the field of research of supersonic jet and unsteady gas flows are presented. Particular attention is paid to the development and use of the method of optimal shock-wave systems in relation to jet streams.
