The book contains and systematizes materials of domestic and foreign literature on the study of reflecting characteristics of a wide class of earth underlying surfaces (PP) of natural (natural) and anthropogenic origin, as well as terrain objects in the 8-mm electromagnetic wave (EM) range. Data on the average values of the specific effective scattering area (SEC) for the main elements of the landscape in the entire range of zenith angles, the dependence of the SEC change on the physical characteristics of the PP are given, the method of a priori determination of SEC based on such information materials as topographic maps, photographs, climatic and weather reports is given. The issues of determining the effective scattering area (EPR) for a number of anthropogenic objects located on the earth's surface were considered.
