The publication being undertaken aims to give Russian society an accessible reading that at one time would satisfy both the needs of university youth and an educated public interested in historical knowledge. According to the proposed plan, two large volumes should be devoted to the history of the Middle Ages, of which the first was brought to the XIII century - the second to the XVI, and four volumes - to new and modern history.
