The monograph is the first in Russian historiography to study the clan system of Highland Scotland, which is considered in the broad context of the socio-cultural, economic and geopolitical development of the era of European modernization. The subject of research in the monograph was the idea of ​ ​ kinship in the North Scottish mountain society and their transformation into modern times.
