The initial foundations of the solid state physics course are outlined. General issues of crystal structure and lattice dynamics are considered. The zone theory is discussed and on its basis the electrical properties of metals and semiconductors, as well as the magnetic properties of solids. The necessary representations of the physics of superconductivity are given. The manual is intended for students of technical specialties.
