The book is a translation of three surviving manuscripts of the Maya Indians dating back to the 12th-15th centuries. and written in hieroglyphic writing (the rest of the Maya manuscripts were burned by the Inquisition after the Spanish for the ¬ of the war in the 16th century). The translation is based on the decryption of Mayan hieroglyphic writing implemented by the author in previous publications, and is provided with commentary and pointers. Manuscripts are a first-class ethnographic source, as they relate to almost all aspects of the life of the ancient Maya. The publication is of interest to historians, ethnographers, as well as to readers interested in the history of the Mayan Indians.
