Senior Lieutenant Sablin, after being discharged from the hospital, serves in the commandant's office of besieged Leningrad. He could not imagine how his life would change one day after receiving a combat order. A bag with a wax seal becomes a pass to another world, to a city of shadows and ghosts that cannot be seen behind posters and slogans of an atheistic empire.
