The book gives a brief outline of the life and work of the outstanding thinker of the past Aurelius Augustine, shows his place in late antique culture, briefly outlines his main philosophical and worldview views. The main focus is on the aesthetic views of the thinker. An analysis of the ratio between Augustine's rational and aesthetic is given, the main categories of his aesthetics are considered. The Augustinian understanding of art and its theory of aesthetic perception is analyzed.
