The monograph is devoted to the socio-political struggle that unfolded in Iran in the middle of the XIX century. in connection with the reforms of Mirza Mohammad Tagi Khan, which represented the first attempt to overcome socio-economic backwardness and strengthen national sovereignty in the face of increased penetration of foreign powers into the country. It comprehensively examines the reforms of Tagi Khan, shows how the feudal aristocracy and conservative spirituality fought against their implementation.
