The regularities of the processes of metal deoxidation by carbon, manganese, silicon, aluminum and their alloys, as well as the processes of steel deoxidation by carbon in a vacuum, the processes of removal of hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen from the metal and absorption by the metal are considered. Mass exchange between gaseous and liquid phases, reduction of alloying element oxides and interaction of molten steel with crucible material during vacuum treatment are analyzed.
