On the basis of archival documents of the XVII century. and coolection of the Mangazey historical and geographical expedition of AAANI. 1968-1973. A generalized description of one of the first and largest urban settlements in the Arctic Circle - Mangazey is given. The issues of organizing the archaeological study of the Mangazey settlement, the methodology of historical and topographic study of the Russian feudal city, the results of excavations, the development of polar navigation in Obazey Taz and Taz lips, Mangazey sea passage. Graphic materials of the expedition, reconstruction of serfs and religious buildings are widely presented.
