Principles of organization and technical implementation of automated control of thermal power plants are considered. Elements of the theory of multilevel hierarchical systems are considered in detail, concepts of construction of automated control systems of thermal power plants of multifunctional purpose using software and hardware complexes operating in a single information space are given.
