Detailed biography of M.Yu. Lermontov in English. October 1814. Moscow. Two peasant women, both nursing mothers, have been brought to Moscow from a place some 350 miles to the southeast, as part of the preparations for a birth which takes place in the early hours of October 3. It appears to have been without complications. The newborn male child will be christened Mikhail lurevich Lermontov. One of the two peasant women, Luker'ia Alekseevna Shubenina, is chosen by the doctors to become Lermontov's wet-nurse. She will live for a long time in the house, and even as an adult Lermontov will visit her and take her presents.
