The book examines the trends in the social development of regions, cities and rural areas of Russia during the transition period, shows the impact of various factors on the dynamics of social processes and estimates the territorial inequality in income, employment, health, education, and provision of basic services. Particular attention is paid to regional problems of poverty, tender and generational differences in adaptation mechanisms to new conditions, as well as methods for integrated assessment of social development.
