The basis of the specialization of the scientist was the ancient and medieval history of Siberia and Central Asia. He has published more than 120 scientific papers on this topic. Since 1927, he participated in archaeological expeditions in various regions of Transbaikalia, Altai, Central Kazakhstan and Southern Siberia, based on which he published the scientific work "Ancient History of Southern Siberia" (ed. 1948 and 1951), which earned the USSR State Prize.
