The British Museum in London contains unique documents - letters written by the Mahatmas of the East to the Englishman A.P. Sinnett. This was the first time that the Great Teachers entered into correspondence with a representative of the Western world. For the first time, Mahatm's letters were published in full in 1923 in one of the London publishing houses. Fragments of these letters were translated by Elena Ivanovna Roerich (who took the pseudonym Iskander Khanum) and collected in a separate book called The Bowl of the East, which was published in 1925 by the Alatas publishing house.
