The Bourbon family is named after the Bourbon l'Archambault family estate in Central France. The first known representative of this dynasty was Aimar, mentioned in the annals as early as 915. The foundations of the prosperity of the clan were laid by the marriage of Beatrice of Burgundy with the sixth son of Louis IX Robert, concluded in 1272.
