The State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) presents the most extensive collection of Russian art in the world. The museum was founded in 1895 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II. Currently, its collection has more than 400,000 copies and covers all historical periods and trends in the development of Russian art, all its main types and genres, directions and schools for more than 1000 years.
