With the inclusion of Central Asia in the second half of the 19th century, the Russian Empire began an influx of the population professing Christianity - mainly Russian Orthodox, Catholics (Poles, etc.), Protestants (Germans), Gregorians (Armenians), as well as representatives of small Christian sects. Under the totalitarian Soviet regime, an attitude was given to the destruction of religions, in particular, the persecution of Christians who stayed here. But since perestroika, and especially the independence of the republics of Central Asia, there has been a new revival of religious life - both among Muslims and supporters of other religions. To trace this process in relation to Christian denominations aims at the real collective work of scientists, local historians, journalists and theologians, which is versatile in style and content, and in some places debatable multifaceted.
