Pavel Pavlovich Muratov is an outstanding Russian historian, specialist in European and Asian art, an expert in icon painting, literary and art critic, publisher, translator and publicist. He was a curator in the department of fine arts and classical antiquities of the Rumyantsev Museum, together with K.F. Nekrasov published the art magazine "Sofia," was an active figure in the field of art before and after his emigration: he organized exhibitions and collaborated with many specialized newspapers and magazines.
