The two-volume book introduces into scientific circulation over 800 documents (several thousand were used to compile notes and a personal index) from previously closed archives, funds and collections stored in the "special" and "secret" archives of the Central Committee of the CPSU, the KGB of the USSR and other departments. They reveal the official (public) and secret goals and positions of the party, military and punitive bodies of Soviet Russia, as well as internal and external anti-communist and anti-Soviet forces in relation to the Kronstadt uprising. The collections almost completely present the surviving documents of the rebels. Numerous materials are published on repressions, letters and protocols of interrogations of leaders and ordinary participants in these events, documents on the influence of the Kronstadt events on relations between the RSFSR and foreign states and on the assessment of the reasons and significance of the Kronstadt uprising by party and military leaders, its participants and emigrant circles. The volumes are equipped with an extensive scientific reference apparatus.
