The continuation of the series "Significant Combinations" is devoted to the so-called "Distraction of the Mining Figure. "The fantastic combination, in which various figures are sacrificed "out of the blue" and without visible compensation, has been used in chess practice for more than 100 years. Among its performers are A. Alekhine, D. Blackburn, E. Eremenkov, B. Larsen, B. Parma, G. Pilsbury, V. Topalov, R. Fisher, K. Junge and other famous grandmasters. However, chess composers made the greatest contribution to the development of this "space" problem. Therefore, distractions with light figures and rooks are named after Vasily and Mikhail Platov, and distraction with queens is named after Leopold Mitrofanov. The work contains about 40 parts and 60 compositions illustrating the topic under consideration. The manual is intended for chess circles and schools, as well as for a wide range of chess lovers.
