Elizabeth Elliot (née Howard, born December 21, 1926). Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 during a missionary trip to the Huaorani tribe east of Ecuador. She later spent two years as a missionary in this tribe. Returning to the United States after years in South America, she became widely known as the author of more than 20 books. Elliot toured the country sharing her knowledge and experience.
