According to the ideas of the ancient Slavs, the world around them was filled with spirits of various origins. Many of them, like Perun, Khors, Dazhdbog, Gromovnik and Svarog, already in the pre-Slavic period gained importance in the life of people, turning into gods and rising above the rest of the spirits.
