Additives are described that improve the environmental properties of fuels, i.e., reduce the level of emissions of soot, oxides, nitrogen, sulfur and carbon into the atmosphere, as well as facilitate the operation of diesel engines at low temperatures. The issues of synthesis, physical and chemical properties, production and application technology, as well as the mechanism of action of compounds of various classes serving as additives are considered.
