This edition includes the famous epic of the ancient Maya "Popol-Vuh" ("Book of the People") recorded by the Indians already under Christianity and telling about the creation of the world, mythological gods and ancestors of the Quiche people, as well as customs and beliefs. In addition to the epic, the book includes "Rabinal-achi" ("Warrior from Rabinal") - a folklore text that accompanied the ancient dance of Quiche warriors, and a historical essay by the Spanish missionary Diego de Landa.
