This book, created by a team of authors, employees of the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, was published in Bratislava in English (A Concise History of Slovakia. Bratislava, 2000) and addressed primarily to the overseas reader. It gives a vivid holistic idea of ​ ​ all the main stages of the historical development of the Slovak people from ancient times to the present day. Slovak lands for many centuries were part of the Kingdom of Hungary, and after 1918 - the Czechoslovak Republic, therefore, the historical fate of Slovakia is considered in the book in a complex, contradictory context and organic connection with the history of neighboring peoples of Central Europe.
