The first part of the textbook is devoted to the literary process of the beginning of the 20th century from the late realist works of A.N. Tolstoy, A.P. Chekhov to the work of Russian symbolists, acmeists, and futurists. The book covers theoretical issues of literature, the appendix contains extensive information about the work and literary works of individual writers and poets mentioned in the book.
