The monograph is devoted to a new direction of modern algebra - the theory of universal enveloping algebras. This direction arose as a result of the study of the algebraic aspects of the theory of infinite-dimensional representations of Lie groups, which has developed especially rapidly in the last three decades. The book presents a large number of non-trivial results obtained to date and uses an interesting technique based on a combination of algebraic and topological ideas.
