The materials offered to readers are, on the one hand, the cold thoughts of a publicist - an eyewitness to the tragic Ukrainian events of the end of 2013-2014, expressed in hot pursuit in the Kyiv Weekly "2000," on the other hand, the historian's reflections on Ukraine's place in a globalizing world, presented at the International Likhachev Readings in St. Petersburg. From them follows the conclusion, as obvious, so sad. Globalization, carried out by the United States and its allies, as if in the interests of freedom and democracy of peoples, really pursues the goal of its own world dominance. Moreover, it is always accompanied by the processes of disintegration of the traditional world order, and therefore by human tragedies. Another among the countries "happy" with the globalization attention of the West was Ukraine.
