The fifth edition (the fourth was published in 1989) sets out the basics of histology, cytology and embryology at the modern level. New information on the structure of the cell and its derivatives, structure, functions of tissues and organs in the age aspect is presented. All terms are listed according to international histological and embryological nomenclature.
