Russian doctor N.S. Korotkov for the first time in the history of world medicine in 1905 discovered a sound method for measuring blood pressure in humans. Korotkov's method, due to its accuracy and simplicity, soon gained triumphal distribution in medicine of all countries and became a generally recognized world standard in measuring and assessing the level of blood pressure in healthy people and patients with various diseases.
