At the Physics Institute of the University of Würzburg on November 8, 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen first observed new rays, called X rays. A little later, he showed pictures from his own hand and hunting weapons, taken with new rays, thereby indicating the main areas of application of these rays: medicine and industry. X-ray research since then - thanks to the dedicated work of Roentgen and the researchers that followed - has become one of the main research methods in all areas of medical science.
