The book of the German historian analyzes the cultural policy of the so-called phase of stagnation (stagnation), relations between the authorities and the intelligentsia, cultural and political conditions that prepared future reforms. The book is designed for teachers, researchers and graduate students. The subject of the proposed analysis is mainly the political instrumentalization of writers, artists, and filmmakers, and the means and ways in which they attempted to break free from this direct dependence.
