The technology of metal production, methods of manufacturing products are briefly described. Description of defects of base metal of equipment and welded joints is given. The most used types of non-destructive testing are considered: visual and measuring, capillary, magnetic particle, eddy current, radiation, ultrasonic, acoustic emission and acoustic vibration. The physical essence of each type of control is outlined. Particular attention is paid to the technology of non-destructive testing.
