Basic concepts and regularities of structure formation of refractory and heat-insulating materials are considered. The properties of these materials are described. The basics of the technology of obtaining the materials most used in industry are described, the criteria for choosing rational refractory and heat-insulating materials are given. Methods of increasing the durability of furnace linings and the efficiency of using materials used for them are indicated.
