The book examines a group of ancient Korean poetic works of the 6th-9th centuries (hyanga) in connection with the social functions of the poetic word in Korean culture during the era of the Silla state. Given the peculiarities of mythopoietic thinking characteristic of ancient Korean poetic creativity, the author reveals the deep meaning of the selected texts and reveals the special system of ideas about the world behind them, which is conventionally referred to as the "appearance system."
