The material science educational publication is devoted to the problem of improving the quality of metal products by creating compositions with special properties on the working surfaces. Physical, mechanical and other properties of coatings and coated materials are considered. At the modern scientific level, a classification of material structures is given, practical recommendations are given for conducting structural studies and tests of samples and products with coatings applied by plasma, detonation and other methods.
