In connection with the conversion of a significant number of Pz.I from linear tanks to self-propelled guns and various special-purpose vehicles, a large number of towers were released, which were used to arm fortifications. As of March 26, 1945, there were 363 towers of Pz.I tanks armed with one machine gun and 260 towers armed with two machine guns in coastal defense and in land fortified areas - various kinds of "ramparts."
