This collection of selected literary works of Ancient Egypt is the first experience of their translation for the general reader. This made the work of translators much more difficult. Translators sought to acquaint the Soviet reader with the oldest monuments of world literature as works of art. Trying to maintain maximum translation accuracy, they proceeded primarily from the requirements for artistic translation in general.
