Alphonse Lamartine (1790-1869) - French poet, writer and politician. Lamartine's fame came to a head in 1847, when he published The History of the Girondins, and in fact the history of the French Revolution. History was published for the first time a few months before the start of the 1848 Revolution, during which Lamartine headed the Provisional Government of the Second Republic. The impression of the book was enormous, since it was written on the basis of rare documents to which Lamartine had access due to his political position, as well as his conversations with people who witnessed those events.
