May 20, 1977 Senior Test Pilot OKB B.C. Ilyushin made his first flight on a T-10 experimental aircraft. Deliveries of aircraft to the troops began in 1984. The Su-27 was a great victory for the Soviet aviation industry. For the first time in the post-war period, an "offensive" combat aircraft was created, surpassing any foreign in the entire set of flight tactical characteristics and having great prospects for improvement.
