The Trojan epic turned out to be truly unfading. Already in ancient Greece, Homer's poems found not only numerous fans, but also imitators. From the VIII century BC poems are created telling about the initial history of the Trojan War ("Cyprus"), about the Amazonian queen Pentesileus, who came to the aid of the Trojans ("Ethiopis"), about the last days of Troy and its destruction ("Little Iliad," "Destruction of Ilion"), About the fate of Greek heroes after their return to their homeland ("Return"), etc. Ancient Russia did not stay away from the pan-European fascination with Trojan legends. Since the beginning of the XVI century. two versions of the legendary cycles about Troy are widely used in Russia: "The Tale of the Creation and Captivity of Troy" and "The Book of Troy" - a translation of the novel by Guido de Columna. At the beginning of the XVII century. the third version also appears: the story "On the Golden Fleece of the Magic Ram" - a revision of one of the chapters of the chronicle, compiled in the middle of the XVI century. an outstanding Polish historian Martin Belsky.
