The book "Nivkh myths and tales" is a unique collection of folklore of the Nivkh, one of the indigenous peoples living on about. Sakhalin and in the basin of the lower reaches of the river. Amur. The original Nivkh mythology - part of the priceless cultural heritage of the northern peoples - has not been sufficiently studied. The book contains 27 texts recorded by Ph.D. G.A. Otaina in her native Nivkh language. Of the texts cited, nine were previously published only in Japan in 1993. The publication is of academic interest to ethnographers, linguists, cultural scientists and historians.
